I was asked to create a sculpture that a family could look upon at home and think about their recently departed wife and mother - Stacy. The 3 koru represent her children and the twist represents the bond of love shared between husband, wife and family.
The single twist is a lovely shape, and can display movement and life in an otherwise solid material.
You need to ensure you have allowed enough material for an overlapping twist. If you start too thin it may end up too delicate. Keeping the 3 koru reducing in size yet proportional to each other got a little fiddly.
I delivered it to Murray and one of his sons last week – I think I achieved what they were after.
