Making of Jo's Koru

This design is called "Jo's Koru" as it was made for the girlfriend of a good mate of mine. I have asked her to name it so in the meantime I refer to it as "Jo's Koru".

Originally I pictured a koru with something enveloping it like a collar. As I worked on rounding the top I saw a koru that looked like a woman's head resting on her shoulder. It had a lovely feminine feel and look about it, including what looked more and more like a neckline. It is incredibly smooth to the touch. There was only one to emphasise the softness of the koru, and keep the koru as the focal point, and that was to roughen everything around it.

I made a joke to my friend that he was the rough and she was the beauty cradled in his arms - he didn't mind that!
