Making Teina – “the youngest sister”

Alexandria asked if I could create a sculpture she had designed for her sister Carmelle’s 21st. The design reflected Carmelles (youngest of 4 sisters) love of life, her family, her sporting successes, and health battles. Alexandria helped name it Teina – “the youngest sister”. The front facing design was a tattoo the sisters designed and share.

The time was short (1 week) and the stone I had was wet – so drying it each night was important.

The concept design from Alexandria looked good and found no reason to alter it.

I put my own touch around the outside and tried a few variations to represent the sisters and Carmelles achievements. A couple of earlier thoughts looked a little masculine, but the right one (i think) jumped out at me.
