This was my second Lucas Thompson designed headstone. It is a freestanding Tekoteko/Tiki in traditional Hauraki style.
The sheer size presented the first of many challenges. Starting with a 1.5 tonne block gradually removing a lot of stone to reveal the Tekoteko within.
The Plaque sits within the kupenga (net) and held by the Tekoteko.
