The family called and asked to meet with me in person. They travelled down from Hamilton and we had a wonderful afternoon discussing the details about the headstone they wanted.

It was their concept design, and we talked about weight and structural issues.

The korus represent the mokopuna, and the design on the overhanging leaves represent the children. The overall design reflects the closeness of the whanau.

The greatest challenge was shaping the 5 koru within the two leaves. I had to make a couple of changes to ensure it would survive the road trip back to Hamilton. Originally the two leaves were meant to be separated but I kept them together for added strength.
