This family contacted me and asked if I could produce a memorial for their mother that incorporated their kaitiaki (guardians)... piwakawaka (fantail) and the whai (stingray).

There were a number of conversations about the design and placement of the elements and we also included a kowhaiwhai pattern within the whai that represented the children. The height was 920mm.

I wanted something simple but unique. The curvature of the stylised fantail meant the plaque needed to be curved as well.
