I was asked to design a remembrance sculpture for a young child.
Everybody has their own impression of the koropepe. For me It protects and guides the spirit of the child on the next part of their journey. The Koropepe combines the Koru, representing the new journey, the circle of life, and the Manaia, the guardian and the connection between our world and the spiritual world.
