This memorial request came through a year ago from a young lady living in Australia. There was no rush and we exchanged many emails over that time. I completed the work about 8 months ago, and she made it back home to collect it this month. I finally got to meet her and her whanau. Over the past 8 months I have had the pleasure of looking at it every day - a rare gift, as they are usually transported away as soon as I complete them.
I have created a similar design before, but its meaning and symbolism conveyed exactly what she wanted. I added a weaving design around the base to provide a unique look.
Thank you for allowing me to enjoy it for as long as I did.
