This piece explores the tension of life’s experiences — twisting, striving, and at times overwhelming — before coming to an abrupt pause. The presence of a bird introduces a moment of calm, marking a transition into peace.

Brett is particularly interested in creating the illusion of movement from heavy stone. The entwined, vine-like form enabled this exploration, while the sudden ending became a key part of the story — an opening for something new to emerge.

The work reflects Brett’s own journey and is intended to resonate with others who recognise this cycle of struggle and change.
