Twist.  Piko = Fern; Rua = Two

Pikopiko are young fern shoots, and it is the twisting of them together that represents the Pikorua - two ferns twisting together.  Symbolises the strength of the bond between two people. It signifies the spiritual merger of two people for eternity. The Pikorua ia a powerful statement of loyalty, friendship & love.  Historically the twist represented the coming together of two people, two families, two cultures.
