Brett was inspired to create this piece after an old friend visited during the Kāpiti Coast Art Trail and asked whether he would consider creating a Chinese Dragon for the Lunar New Year Festival 2024.
 
He welcomed the opportunity to explore something new, enjoying the challenge of discovering his first dragon hidden within a block of limestone. The natural golden tones of the stone proved an ideal fit for the subject.
 
The finished piece was featured as part of a stage performance at the TSB Arena during the Lunar New Year celebrations.
