The story

What began as abstract shapes started to resemble, in Brett’s eyes, a korowai wrapped around the body. With one form larger than the other and a clear connection between them, the piece took on the feeling of a tuākana–tēina relationship. Traditionally this describes older and younger siblings, but at its heart it’s about the more experienced supporting the less experienced: nurturing, guiding and leading. It can apply to many relationships in life.
